ITB Berlin 2019

Between 06 and 10 March 2019 Visit Jersey and Visit Guernsey hosted a joint Channel Island stand at ITB Berlin, one of the world’s largest and leading travel trade shows. Over 10,000 exhibitors attended from 181 countries, displaying their products and services in 26 halls to around 160,000 visitors, including 113,500 trade visitors.

Along with on-island suppliers Bontour Incoming, Dolan Hotels, Condor Ferries, Hand Picked Hotels, Hotel de France, Radisson Blu, Seymour Hotels, The Modern Hotels and The Royal Yacht, Visit Jersey were there to tell our island's story and display all the island has to offer.

The results of the 5-day exhibition in Berlin show an overall increase in trade visitor numbers 113,500, a 3% increase compared to last year, underlining the fact that even in times of widespread uncertainty due to geopolitical and economic events such as Brexit and trade conflicts, ITB Berlin has retained its position as the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show.

Dr. Christian Göke, CEO of Messe Berlin said: "ITB Berlin is of great importance, particularly in times of widespread uncertainty. Even in a digitalised world, it is not possible for high-tech communications to replace the confidence-building measure that face-to-face meetings and a direct exchange between business partners on issues concerning the global industry represent. That is why ITB Berlin functions."

Visit Jersey had 52 Trade & PR appointments scheduled on stand. Additionally, many ad-hoc meetings were held over the duration of the event.

The annual Channel Island dinner this year was hosted at the very modern, stylish restaurant & café 1687 located near the Brandenburger Gate on the Eastern side of Berlin.

Visit Jersey hosted 58 guests in total, including 35 travel trade partners from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the UK.  The evening as always proved to be a great success.  Not only was this event the perfect way to thank our long-standing partners for their continued support over the years, it also proved to be  an ideal way to welcome new travel partners and a great opportunity to share industry knowledge and initiatives in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
