It is welcome news that Jersey will be accessible to more German visitors next year, with the expansion of flight capacities from Germany. After a high and increasing demand for flights to Jersey over the last few years, key airlines have now announced the expansion of their flight capacities by more than 60%, resulting in the island break becoming easier to reach for German visitors.
For the first time Eurowings will offer a direct flight from Hamburg to Jersey starting on 6 May. The route will be operated with weekly flights (Sundays) with an Airbus A319 until 21 October.
In addition Eurowings will continue to fly from Dusseldorf to Jersey (weekly on Saturdays) from 19 May until 27 October 2018. Furthermore the German tour operator TUI Wolters Reisen is offering the route Dusseldorf to Jersey for the first time as a full charter service operated by Flybe from 28 April until 22 September (weekly on Saturdays). The new flight will depart Hamburg at 06:00 and land in Jersey at 07:00. The flight from Jersey departs at 07:35 and lands in Hamburg at 10:25.
Furthermore, in early February Eurowings confirmed a fourth direct flight from Germany to Jersey. Starting from 28 April onwards non-stop fights will commence from Berlin-Tegel to the island. With this new additional flight connection the total seat capacity increases to 15,276 passengers (on direct air links only) which is an increase in capacity by 84.2% compared to last year.
“Eurowings has been a good friend of Jersey over many years and we are delighted that in 2018 they will be adding Hamburg to their routes to Jersey, in addition to flights from Dusseldorf. With this new service and the increased capacity from Germany to Jersey next year this is a very positive signal and we are looking forward to an increasing number of German visitors next year.” Keith Beecham, CEO of Visit Jersey
Lufthansa will be operating the flight connection from Munich to Jersey in the upcoming summer schedule (weekly on Saturdays) from 5 May to 20 October.
Additionally the German tour operator Globalis Reisen has increased their charter flight series to Jersey to a total of thirteen departure points from Germany. The routes will be operated with larger aircraft (A320) on weekly services (Mondays) between 16 April until 11 June.
