The Internationale Tourismus Borse (ITB) is one of the world’s largest travel and tourism exhibitions held in Berlin from 7 - 11 March 2018. ITB runs for five days and is open to both trade and consumers.
In 2018, the event had over 100,000 trade visitors over the five exhibition days with a total of 10,000 trade exhibitors from 186 countries exhibiting in 26 halls. ITB provides a platform for organisations to meet with the Channel Islands' major tour operators, enabling them to find out how we can support them in extending existing programmes and setting up new tours to Jersey. It was also an opportunity for Visit Jersey to suggest new itineraries for the island break as well as new ideas for future business, possible partnership opportunities and joint marketing activities.
On this year's Channel Island stand in hall 18, suppliers from Jersey and Guernsey participated together with Visit Jersey and Visit Guernsey. Accommodation providers Handpicked Hotels, The Duke of Richmond Hotel, The Atlantic Hotel, Dolan Hotels, Seymour Hotels, Hotel de France, Modern Hotels and The Radisson Blu Hotel joined Bontours and Condor Ferries.
It was great to be able to welcome so many partners, including two new suppliers (Handpicked Hotels & The Radisson Blu Hotel) and it shows the importance of the German market to both Jersey and Guernsey. The Visit Jersey team also took the opportunity to meet with new media contacts in the shape of bloggers and journalists, and also took part in an exciting speed dating blogger event for the first time.
At this year's Channel Island dinner, we welcomed 42 of our leading tour operators from Germany and Austria. We were very pleased to welcome so many of our major tour operators, both existing and new.
