March Passenger Arrivals 2019

In March there was a 2.4% increase in arrivals with 84% of all passengers arriving by air. It should be noted that March 2018 included Easter, whereas this fell much later in April in the current year.

  • Air passenger arrivals were 5.2% up on a year ago largely thanks to strong growth from Liverpool, Gatwick and Guernsey
  • Routes such as Luton should be treated with caution as they are seasonal so a different start date may have resulted in variations
  • Sea passenger arrivals were 10.1% lower than a year before with the most significant reduction in absolute terms being for St Malo
  • Overall there was a 2.4% increase in arrivals with 84% of all passengers arriving by air

January to March Headlines

  • Air passenger arrivals were 4.4% up during the first three months of this year
  • Liverpool and Gatwick see the strongest growth while East Midlands has witnessed a decrease in volumes
  • Sea passenger volumes were 1.7% up in the first three months of 2019 largely as a result of higher volumes from Guernsey
  • Overall the increase in passenger arrivals is 4.1% in the first three months of 2019 with 86% of passengers arriving by air
