May Passenger Arrivals 2018

Compared with a year earlier 5,700 more passengers arrived at Jersey Airport during the month of May 2018. May also saw an increase in harbour arrivals, which were 5,200 up compared with the year before. There was also strong growth in arrivals from Edinburgh, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Southampton.

Headlines for May

  • Compared with a year earlier 5,700 more passengers arrived at Jersey Airport
  • Gatwick returned to growth while the single largest absolute increase was from Edinburgh with an additional 1,200 arrivals – this positive news being even more noteworthy for the fact that there was also a very slight increase in passengers arriving from Glasgow
  • Routes seeing a drop in arrivals include Liverpool, Guernsey and London Southend
  • Arrivals at the Harbour were up by 5,200 compared with a year before
  • There was a very large increase in arrivals from St Malo of 3,600
  • The number of Cruise passengers visiting Jersey was three times greater than was the case in May 2017
  • Across Air and Sea passenger arrivals were 11,000, or 9.4%, up on the year before

  • The number of passengers arriving at Jersey Airport was 2.6% up across the first five months of 2018
  • Strong growth in arrivals comes from Edinburgh, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Southampton
  • The biggest declines in arrivals are from Liverpool, Guernsey and London Southend
  • Sea arrivals are 4.9% down during the period January to May with sizeable declines in arrivals from St Malo, Guernsey and Carteret
  • Across Air and Sea during the first five months of 2018 passenger arrivals are 0.5% higher than they were for the same period of last year
  • So far this year 74% of all passenger arrivals have been by air
