Written by Penny Byrne and featuring beautiful hand drawn illustrations by Erin Brown, the book tells the tale of Cyril and his friends, whose overgrown garden home and dilapidated house is bought and renovated by a couple keen to have a weed free and tidy garden. As a resulting their garden falls eerily silent as there is no longer any room for the wildlife. Luckily their grandchildren come to the rescue and help them realise how to have a garden that welcomes nature and they all can enjoy.
As the book was very kindly commissioned by a private sponsor, all proceeds from the book sales will support the Trust’s conservation work across the Island.
The Trust hopes that the book will encourage people at home to look at the small ways that they can support local biodiversity and hope that the illustrations showcase some of the natural beauty and wildlife that we have in Jersey.
The Silent Garden makes a wonderful gift or a perfect book to read with your children or grandchildren. It is priced at £7.99 and available to buy in NTJ shops at The Elms and 16 New Street as well as online at pennybyrneauthor.com.
