September 2020 UK PR coverage from the weekend

Continuing our approach to UK PR activity of landing short lead pieces positioning Jersey as ready to welcome back visitors, we are delighted to share with you some coverage that has landed over the weekend. Coverage continues to land key messages that Jersey has an efficient testing process in place, and that you can enjoy all the island has to offer safely, in the late summer sun.

COVERAGE

Following the Daily Mirror’s press trip earlier this month, we have secured coverage over the weekend in Sunday Mirror (circ. 316,962) and Mirror Online (du.u. 849,666).

The full page piece entitled ‘Jersey Sure’ highlights the island’s fast and efficient Covid testing for visitors that lets visitors enjoy all its great attractions in a safe environment.

The article talks to Jersey’s testing regime from the pre-departure form, to the regional classification lists and PCR test on arrival. Copy reads “At all times on the island I felt very secure and there was a warm welcome (and sunshine!) everywhere I went”.

The article also includes a quote from Visit Jersey’s CEO Amanda Burns, in what is a very positive piece on how Jersey is the perfect autumn getaway for a safe non-quarantine holiday.

The article was syndicated in Daily Star Sunday (circ. 141,011). Entitled ‘It’s Jersey Time’, the full-page article ran over the weekend and included the same copy as Sunday Mirror.

Additionally, coverage was secured in The Saturday Times (circ. 365,880), with Jersey included in a round up feature on ‘Last minute escapes to book now’.

From Italian city breaks to Greek villas and Scandi adventures, Sean, the journalist, picked the best short-haul getaways which are classified as Covid-19 low risk. Jersey is Number 13 - Jump into Jersey.

We also secured a piece on The Daily Telegraph (du.u 4,125,437) entitled ‘Six UK islands for a perfect autumn escape’. Jersey was included in the round up alongside Lundy, Isle of Wight, Arran, Isle of Coll and St. Mary’s.

The article includes reference to Jersey Seafaris, saying “We also recommend booking an excursion with Jersey Seafaris (jerseyseafaris.com) – you’ll bounce across the waves to the tiny Écréhous islands (many of which are submerged at high tide), six miles north of Jersey. The dozen or so people who live here are greatly outnumbered by the wildlife – seals and dolphins are regularly spotted.”

Jersey was also included in a round up on Daily Express Online (du.u 1,320,610) roundup of 'UK holidays: Stunning ‘safe’ staycation destinations that will feel like you’re abroad'. Details about 'The Visit Safe Charter', launched on 11 August 2020 are shared in a quote by Visit Jersey's Head of Marketing, Louise Ashworth, who reassures readers that the initiative gives islanders and visitors confidence that they can enjoy Jersey safely, knowing that robust measures and protocols are in place to combat Covid-19.
