La Mare Wine Estate delights with new botanical blend

Publish date: 30 Nov 2023

This month, just in time for the festive season, La Mare Wine Estate has unveiled its
first new botanical blend in four years – the Jersey Royal Winter Berry Gin.

This artisanal spirit is a testament to the Estate’s dedication to celebrating the best of
Jersey produce, and particularly, the cherished Jersey Royal Potato.

Crafted with the utmost care by La Mare’s Head Winemaker and Distiller Jordi
Sanvicens Moreno, the Jersey Royal Winter Berry Gin is infused with an array of sloe
berries, fragrant cinnamon, and a handpicked selection of seasonal spices.

This new gin marks a significant milestone for La Mare Wine Estate, as it’s the first time
since 2019 that a new botanical blend has been introduced to their collection.

Commenting on the new produce La Mare Wine Estate Managing Director Tim Crowley
said, “It’s been a very busy year with our largest harvest for over 20 years. This new
Winter Berry Gin is Jordi’s first spirit creation since joining us in the summer of last year.
I am impressed by his high level of skill and passion in delivering this sophisticated and
delicious new product.”

The distillation process takes place in La Mare’s traditional Alembic Charantais Cognac
Distillery, employing both pure neutral spirit and the revered Jersey Royal Potato spirit.
Jordi Sanvicens Moreno said “At La Mare Wine Estate, our philosophy is deeply rooted
in the celebration of local harvests and the art of distillation. The Jersey Royal Potato,
with its unique flavour profile, is the cornerstone of this gin, embodying the essence of
Jersey in every drop.

We showcase the best of what our island has to offer. This gin is not just a reflection of
La Mare’s dedication to quality but also a tribute to the fertile soils of Jersey that
continue to inspire and challenge me as a winemaker and distiller.”

The new gin’s distinct character is partnered with the Winter Berry Blackberry and Gin
Jam, handcrafted at La Mare Wine Estate it captures the essence of Jersey’s autumnal
hedgerows and offers another premium taste of the island in La Mare’s unique style.
