Visit Jersey introduces the Jersey Tidal Trail – a new coastal walking experience designed to showcase the island’s stunning coastline, rich heritage, and unique tidal landscape.

Inspired by the spirit of internationally recognised routes like Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way and England’s South West Coast Path, the Jersey Tidal Trail is set to join the ranks of the world’s celebrated coastal trails, and to become one of Jersey’s signature outdoor experiences.

This new addition to our visitor offer creates real opportunities to attract both new and returning travellers, extend the season, and engage experience-led visitors who value active, outdoor escapes. It also provides a platform to highlight local businesses and experiences along the trail.

What is the Jersey Tidal Trail?

Spanning over 48 miles (77 km) and encircling the island’s dramatic coastline, the Jersey Tidal Trail is a self-guided walking route celebrating the giant tides that shape our island.

From medieval castles to WWII bunkers, picturesque fishing harbours to seafood shacks and beach cafés — this trail is an open-air gallery of Jersey’s past and present, powered by the pull of the tides.

Visit Jersey is actively promoting the Jersey Tidal Trail as a must-do coastal adventure – for walkers, cyclists, explorers, history buffs, and foodies alike. The trail is designed to become a standout year-round travel experience that appeals to the UK and European market, inspiring more visitors to explore Jersey beyond the beach. In the long term, we are building a a signature tourism experience that drives footfall, supports local businesses, and tells a story about Jersey as a world-class coastal destination.

This is more than just a trail. It’s Jersey, revealed by the tide.

Being physically active and exploring is a major factor in holiday choice for 68% of our visitors.

Walking ranks in the top three visitor activities, after eating & drinking and shopping.

An adventure to suit every traveller

Created to appeal to both committed hikers and casual coastal strollers, the trail can be explored in full as part of a multi-day walking holiday or enjoyed in eight individual sections, each clearly marked with distance and difficulty ratings. From rugged cliff-top treks to leisurely harbour-hopping strolls, there’s a route to suit every pace, preference, and ability. Visitors can tackle a single section, complete them all, or mix and match to create their own ideal adventure.

Due to the island’s varied coastal terrain, not all sections of the trail are fully accessible. However, several areas – such as the entirety of St. Aubin’s Bay and parts of St. Ouen’s Bay – are suitable for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility.

Visitors will find key information, maps and wayfinding via Jersey.com, as well as on Komoot and Strava, making it easy to plan and navigate their walking adventure.
