£2 Million Pound Violin to be Played at Georgian House

Violins made by Antonio Stradivari in the turn of the 18th century remain some of the most valuable and expensive instruments in the world, so the National Trust was really excited when violinist Jonathan Hill got in touch to say that he had been loaned a Stradivarius violin dating from 1680 to perform on at his forthcoming concert at The Georgian House.

This is the second time that Jonathan Hill, guest leader of the London Concert Orchestra and former lead violinist of Les Misérables (2011-2019), has performed at 16 New Street – and the first time that he has brought a Stradivarius to the island.

In the first of three series of concerts scheduled for 2022, kindly supported by Ogier, Jonathan will be performing alongside his great friend, pianist Nick Miller, Director of Music at St Margaret’s Putney. The music they have selected includes works by Mascagni, Pärt, Bach, Elgar, Massanet, Kreisler, Paganini and Debussy – and what an amazing experience it will be for those who are lucky enough to attend.
