New direct route between Brest, Jersey and Alderney this summer with Finistair
Publish date: 06 Jun 2025
From 27 June to 31 August 2025, direct flights will run every Friday and Sunday between Jersey, Alderney and Brest aboard a Cessna Grand Caravan, an aircraft well-suited for short regional routes. This new connection aims to strengthen cultural, social and economic ties between the Channel Islands and Brittany. The flight time is only 35 minutes from Brest to Jersey, and 15 minutes from Jersey to Alderney, offering a quick and convenient way to explore the beautiful coastlines, culture, and gastronomy of western France and the Channel Islands.
Beyond discovering Brittany, this new route also opens access to Brest Bretagne Airport, which offers multiple domestic and European connections, making it an ideal hub for onward travel across France and the continent.
Jersey’s Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, Deputy Kirsten Morel said: “We’ve invested in this trial to help us assess the appetite for a longer-term service between the islands and France. We hope it will boost both cultural and economic connections with our near neighbours.
“I’m pleased that we are improving our air-route connectivity, enabling Islanders to reach both Alderney and Brest throughout the summer while also attracting new visitors to Jersey.”
Alderney’s Chair of Economic Development Committee, Stuart Clark said: “We’re delighted that an air link has been established between Alderney & Brest via Jersey following extensive discussions between the Economic Development Committee, Finistair, the Government of Jersey and Ports of Jersey. Alongside the recent launch of other interisland transport links, this trial air link from Finistair could also prove vital in demonstrating the demand for regional connectivity too, and we are looking to see what opportunities this may afford in the future.”
Ports of Jersey’s CEO, Matt Thomas, said: “We are pleased to welcome the trial of this new route connecting Jersey with both Brittany and Alderney. This summer service is a welcome addition to our connectivity to Europe and will offer island residents the opportunity to fly directly to a new destination, as well as re-establishing flights to Alderney.”
The summer route trial has been made possible via a partnership between Ports of Jersey Ltd with the support of both the Government of Jersey and States of Alderney.
