August 2025 Key Statistics
Methodology update: In 2025, the Exit Surveys methodology was refined to provide the most accurate possible reflection of visitor numbers. A new weighting approach was introduced to better account for flight scheduling and the balance between residents and visitors. While overall trends remain consistent, figures from 2025 are not directly comparable with those from previous years. Further information on the Exit Surveys methodology can be found here. The August statistics release was delayed from October 14 to October 30, allowing us to review the data.

August 2025 Summary
- Visits: An estimated 75,100 visits were made in August 2025, down 18,400 compared with August 2024. The 17% year-to-date decline is driven by drops from April through to August, while visits from January to March remained flat year-over-year.
- Bed Nights and Length of Stay: Visitor nights fell by 28,200 in August and were down 11% year-to-date to August. The average length of stay was 5.5 nights year-to-date to August, up from 5.0 nights over the same period in 2024.
- Passengers: In August 2025, 128,500 passengers departed Jersey, a 15,800 decline from the previous year.
Counting of Visits: The statistics represent the number of visits or passenger journeys, not the number of unique individuals. Therefore, individuals who travel multiple times within the reporting period are counted on each occasion.
Estimates and Rounding: These figures are estimates derived from sample surveys and are subject to sampling variability. The data are rounded to the nearest 100 to reflect the inherent uncertainty. As a result, the sum of individual components may not precisely match the reported totals.

Jersey received an estimated 75,100 visits in August 2025, 18,400 fewer than in August 2024 (-20%).
This included:
- Overnight stays: 67,700 (-12,000)
- Day visits: 7,400 (-6,400)
By travel type:
- By air: 46,500 (-7,700)
- By sea: 28,500 (-10,700)
There were an estimated 47,100 overnight leisure visits in August 2025, 12,500 fewer than in August 2024.
Year-to-date to August 2025
An estimated 339,200 visits to Jersey were made in the year to August 2025, 68,400 fewer than in 2024 (-17%).
This included:
- Overnight stays: 300,000 (-16% or -57,900)
- Day visits: 39,200 (-21% or -10,600)
By travel type:
- By air: 235,800 (-12% or -33,200)
- By sea: 103,400 (-25% or -35,300)
By purpose of visit:
- Leisure: 202,800 (-25% or -67,100)
- Visiting friends/relatives: 70,200 ( -9% or -6,600)
- Business: 40,700 (+16% or +5,500)
- Other: 25,500 (-1% or -200)
By country of residence:
- United Kingdom: 235,500 (-14% or -37,000)
- France: 42,600 (-41% or -29,300)
- Other Channel Islands: 20,600 (-16% or -4,000)
- Germany: 13,100 (14% or +1,700)

There were an estimated 177,200 overnight leisure visits in the year to August 2025, 53,000 fewer than in August 2024.

Visitors spent an estimated 370,700 visitor bed nights in Jersey in August 2025, 28,200 fewer nights than in August 2024 (-7%).

In the year to August 2025, there were an estimated 1,412,000 visitor bed nights in Jersey, 174,500 fewer than in 2024 (-11%).

An estimated 128,500 passengers departed Jersey in August 2025, 15,800 fewer than in August 2024. Passengers include residents travelling.
Visitors made up 52% of departing passengers in August 2025.

In the year to August 2025, there were an estimated 654,200 departing passengers from Jersey, 64,000 fewer than in 2024 (-9%).
As of August 2025, visitors made up 52% of departing passengers year-to-date.

- Conducted monthly at ports and airport departures
- Results weighted to match actual passenger volumes

- Research ceased in March 2020 due to the pandemic and restarted in 2022
- Subject to revision as more data becomes available
- Survey estimates are derived from sample data and include a margin of error due to sampling variability
