Barclays Jersey Boat Show ‘back on board’ in 2022

Publish date: 08 Nov 2021

Visitors are being welcomed ‘back on board’ for the 2022 Barclays Jersey Boat Show, with exhibitor and catering registrations now open.

After an absence of two-years due to the Covid Pandemic, the three-day maritime event will take place in and around St. Helier Marina and adjacent Weighbridge Place between Friday 10 and Sunday 12 June 2022. The Show remains the largest free entry public event in the Channel Islands, regularly attracting attendance of 30,000 people. It will once again feature activity both on and off the water with a multitude of yachts and motor boats to view in St. Helier Marina, displays and demonstrations in the Outdoor & Active Zone, a range of marine and lifestyle exhibitors, as well as catering concessions along the quayside and a full music entertainment programme on the Solent Stevedores Main Stage in Weighbridge Place.

The Show, which was first staged in 2008, usually takes place over the early-May Bank Holiday weekend. Organisers have changed the 2022 event to June for one year only due to the current refurbishment of the St. Helier Marina, which is not due for overall completion until the end of May. And for the first time, the Show will be taking place on a Friday afternoon, opening until 20:00 on the first day and subsequently from 10:00 to 18:00 on Saturday and 10:00 to 17:00 on Sunday. Organisers are hopeful that the Royal Navy, who have played an active role at every Show, will once again have a presence but for operational reasons, this will not be confirmed until nearer the day.

On behalf of Ports of Jersey, the island’s Harbourmaster, Captain Bill Sadler, says, “In what has been a challenging time for us all, we’re delighted to once again have the opportunity to showcase the very best of the island’s maritime community to both residents and visitors. Over the years, the Show has become a firm favourite in many people’s calendars, and we look forward to welcoming them back on board. It will also be great to show our refurbished St. Helier Marina and new Albert Pier pontoons and we’re hoping that our new vessel, the Duchess, will also be able to attend. Ports of Jersey is pleased to have the continuing support of Barclays as our title sponsor and alongside them, our other sponsors, marine traders, exhibitors and participants, we’re looking forward to putting together another fantastic community focused show.”

Managing Director and Head of Crown Dependencies for title sponsors Barclays, Paul Savery, says, “I am delighted to welcome the return of the Barclays Jersey Boat Show in June 2022, which will see us relaunch our valued partnership with Ports of Jersey. This key community event provides the island with the opportunity to highlights its thriving maritime, leisure and tourism industries. We’ve missed the Show and very much look forward to celebrating the weekend with events at our new Esplanade offices, which overlook the arena. Our continued support as title sponsor, demonstrates our commitment to the future prosperity of the Island, allowing the community and visitors to celebrate all it has to offer.”

Upon the advice of the Government of Jersey, organisers will ensure that everyone can enjoy the Show in a safe and healthy environment, incorporating any necessary Covid-19 safety measures that may be required at the time.

The annual Barclays Jersey Boat Show is organised by Ports of Jersey, working alongside local event specialists 3D Events. Exhibitor registration, including catering concessions, is now open and can be found online at jerseyboatshow.com. Further details on confirmed activities will also be released in due course and updates can also be found via social media channels.
