Jonny Brownlee Returning to Jersey for Supertri Showdown

Publish date: 23 Jul 2026

British triathlon legend and crowd favourite Jonny Brownlee will lead a first-class field of Olympic champions, world champions and some of the biggest names in triathlon at the Supertri Pro Series Final in Jersey this September, with a staggering $800,000 prize purse on the line

Brownlee received huge support from spectators when Supertri came to Jersey last year and will be hoping that same energy can carry him to Supertri glory on Sunday 6 September.

The three-time Olympic medallist arrives in outstanding form after making history at the recent Supertri Blenheim Palace, setting a record as he completed 10 sprint-distance triathlons across a single weekend in Supertri’s Weekend Warrior format. Across the weekend, Brownlee completed 7.5km of swimming, 200km of cycling and 50km of running before crossing the finish line holding his seven-month-old son, Freddie.

Waiting for Brownlee in Jersey will be former Olympic and world champion Alex Yee, who returns to race on the island for the first time since 2021. On that occasion, Yee claimed victory in a dramatic race against Brownlee and will be hoping for another memorable performance this September.

The competition will not end there, with an exceptional field of athletes lining up for the season-ending showdown. Reigning Supertri champion and last year’s Jersey winner, Hungary’s Csongor Lehmann, will be determined to defend his title, while current world champion Matt Hauser and Olympic gold medallist Tim Hellwig will provide further formidable competition.

Michael D’hulst, CEO and Co-Founder of Supertri, said:
“This is an extraordinary line-up for the Supertri Pro Series Final. We have current world champions, Olympic gold medallists, reigning Supertri champions and athletes who have already created unforgettable moments in Jersey all competing for the biggest one-day prize purse in triathlon.

“The stakes have never been higher, and with $800,000 on the line, every second will matter. Jersey always brings something special to Supertri; the course, the atmosphere and the energy from the crowd create the perfect setting for a final of this scale.”

The women’s race will be equally competitive, with reigning Supertri champion and last year’s Jersey winner Jeanne Lehair returning to defend her title.

Olympic champion Cassandre Beaugrand, who was forced to withdraw from last year’s race in Jersey, will return this September and is expected to provide fierce competition for Lehair.
Georgia Taylor-Brown, the most decorated female athlete in Supertri and a long-time crowd favourite in Jersey, will also be one to watch as she looks to add another memorable chapter to her Supertri career.

Former European champion Jolien Vermeylen will arrive with momentum after taking the top spot at Blenheim Palace and will be hoping to carry that form through to Jersey.
With individual titles, global recognition and the sport’s largest single-day prize purse all on the line, spectators can expect a thrilling afternoon of fast-paced racing at the Waterfront.

The Supertri Pro Series Final takes place on Sunday 6 September as part of Jersey’s landmark ‘weekend of endurance sport’, alongside Swim Run Jersey, the JSAC Half Marathon and RBC Race for the Kids Jersey.

Further athlete announcements and event information will be shared in the lead-up to race day.
