Jersey is preparing to welcome athletes and spectators from around the world this September as three major events combine to create a spectacular ‘weekend of endurance sport’ across the island.
Taking place on 5 and 6 September, the action-packed weekend will see Swim Run Jersey, the JSAC Half Marathon and the Supertri Pro Series Final showcase Jersey as a premier destination for endurance sport, offering visitors the chance to experience world-class competition against some of the island’s most breathtaking backdrops.
To help visitors experience the full weekend, Supertri has launched exclusive supporter packages designed to combine elite sport with island exploration, giving endurance sport fans the opportunity to immerse themselves in the action across all three events.
The weekend begins with Swim Run Jersey on Saturday morning, organised by 3D Events. Starting beneath the dramatic silhouette of Mont Orgueil Castle, competitors will embark on an unforgettable island adventure featuring multiple stages of trail running and open water swimming across Jersey’s rugged coastline.
Renowned for its spectacular scenery and unique format, the event has become one of the most distinctive endurance challenges in the British Isles, with participants navigating hidden bays, cliff paths and crystal-clear waters in a race that fully embraces Jersey’s natural beauty.
Andrew Thomas, Managing Director of 3D Events, said:
“We are delighted to collaborate with Supertri to create an even more exciting and rewarding experience for our Swim Run Jersey participants. The opportunity for competitors to race around Jersey’s spectacular coastline on Saturday before watching some of the world’s very best short course triathletes battle for serious prize money on Sunday makes this a truly unique sporting weekend.
By bringing together mass participation sport and elite international competition, we hope to attract even more visitors to the event, encourage longer stays on the island and further showcase Jersey as a natural destination for world class endurance sport. It promises to be an incredible weekend of racing, atmosphere and entertainment, while providing a fantastic international platform to highlight everything Jersey has to offer.”
On Sunday morning, runners of all abilities will line up for the JSAC Hearty Half Marathon, organised by Jersey Spartan Athletic Club in support of Jersey Heart Support Group.
The race is the most southerly half marathon in the British Isles, and takes participants on a scenic route past some of Jersey’s historic landmarks while also offering spectacular sea views along the island’s coastline. The much-loved event has become a staple in Jersey’s sporting calendar and attracts both local runners and off-island visitors each year.
Katherine Cartwright, from Jersey Spartan Athletic Club, said:
“Jersey Spartan Athletic Club is proud to be part of an incredible weekend of endurance sport alongside Supertri and Swimrun. Events like these showcase the strength, resilience, and community spirit that make endurance sport so special, while inspiring athletes of all levels to challenge themselves and celebrate the island’s passion for sport. We are also proud to be raising money for the Jersey Heart Support Group, supporting the vital work they do for islanders and families across the community.”
The weekend of endurance sport will then conclude on Sunday afternoon as the world’s best short-course triathletes descend on the Waterfront for the Supertri Pro Series Final, competing for a staggering $800,000 prize purse.
The event will mark the sixth time that Supertri has hosted racing in Jersey, further cementing the island’s reputation as a world-class sporting destination.
Michael D’hulst, CEO and Co-Founder of Supertri, said:
“Jersey is an incredible sporting destination because it offers so much more than just a race venue. The island has an amazing atmosphere, a passionate community and some truly spectacular scenery, which makes it a fantastic experience for athletes and spectators alike.
We’re really excited to be part of such a special weekend of sport and to celebrate endurance racing alongside Swim Run Jersey and the JSAC Half Marathon. We’re looking forward to getting involved with the other events across the weekend and supporting the wider sporting community on the island.”
Supertri’s exclusive supporter packages include accommodation, race entry to Swim Run Jersey and the JSAC Half Marathon, VIP spectator tickets to the Supertri Pro Series Final and a meet and greet with Supertri’s world-class athletes. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy guided sightseeing tours, allowing them to discover Jersey’s coastline, history and culture at a slower pace between events.
Tricia Warwick, Chief Executive of Visit Jersey, said:
“The right events, with the reach and appeal to drive incremental visitors to the island, make a real difference to Jersey’s visitor economy, and this sporting weekend is a good example. We hope athletes and spectators alike take the time to explore everything Jersey has to offer.”
With world-class competition, unforgettable scenery and a festival atmosphere across the island, Jersey’s ‘weekend of endurance sport’ promises to deliver an extraordinary celebration of sport for athletes, local supporters and visitors alike.
