Hand Picked Hotels announce series of exclusive Wine Dinners this Autumn

Publish date: 20 Sep 2023

Diners are being invited to travel the world and take their taste buds to South Africa and South America to enjoy some exceptional wine and dining experiences this Autumn as part of a series of exclusive wine dinners developed by Hand Picked Hotels.

Commencing on 5th and 6th October, Executive Chef of Four AA Rosette award winning Tassili, Nicolas Valmagna, has created a special seven-course tasting menu inspired by the colours, flavours and textures of South Africa and to complement the stunning selection of Creation Wines from its award-winning estate in Walker Bay.

Guests will be taken on a journey to discover what makes Creation unique, with an insightful talk by Creative Director and Co-owner of Creation Carolyn Martin, before enjoying a fabulous feast.

The menu will include thoughtfully paired flavourful dishes to complement each of the wines, including Jerusalem artichoke served with autumn truffle and goose liver vetkoek, Orkney scallops accompanied by sweet potato, vanilla and caviar and Kookkos Venison with pumpkin runner beans and charcoal Boerewors. What’s more, Nic will be on hand to chat through his menu and explain why each wine pairing from this trend-setting wine estate is perfectly matched to the intricate flavours of each dish.

Another unforgettable evening is planned for 8th November at sister hotel, L’Horizon Beach Hotel and Spa, where guests are invited to join Executive Head Chef Andrew Soddy and luxury wine expert Eclio Dumon, delving into what makes wines from the Catena Estate in Argentina so special.

The gourmet experience at The Grill includes a fantastic five course dinner featuring stunning local ingredients, paired with five exclusive wines from the Catena family vines grown in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in Mendoza, Argentina. Packed with local provenance, the menu will include Jersey lobster ravioli, wild Jersey turbot, Creedy Carver duck, a pre-dessert made with Jersey honey and a local apple tart tatin to finish.

Simon Miller Regional General Manager of Hand Picked Hotels Channel Islands said, “We’re delighted to be joined by these well respected wine experts for this unforgettable series of events. They will be working closely with Nic and Andrew to ensure their wonderful wines perfectly complement the menus to enhance the complete dining experience.”

“Guests will find out for themselves how the right pairings can result in some astounding flavours.”

The South African evening with Creation Wines can be enjoyed for £145 per person whilst the South American evening with Catena Wines costs £95 per person. To book call Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa on 722301 or L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa on 743101.
