May Passenger Arrivals Data 2017

During May there was just over 1,000 more passenger arrivals in Jersey than was the case a year before, representing an increase of 0.9%. There was an increase of 2.1% in air arrivals but a decline of 1.2% in sea arrivals. Looking at the first five months of 2017 passenger arrivals overall are 3.7% higher than during the same period of 2016, brought about by a 1.4% rise in air passenger arrivals and a 10.5% jump in sea passenger arrivals.

Looking at some of the route level changes for the month of May:

  • The easyJet route from Liverpool enjoyed the strongest growth in volume with an additional 1,681 passenger arrivals
  • Both the Glasgow and London Southend routes saw passenger arrivals up by more than 500
  • The number of air passenger arrivals from Guernsey continues to fall, with a decline of 871 during May
  • The number of passengers arriving by sea from St Malo declined by 813, but in contrast Carteret enjoyed an increase of 575
  • Encouragingly the number of passenger arrivals from Guernsey travelling by sea was 405 up on a year ago

 

Key developments by route for the first five months of 2017 include:

  • Growth of 2% in arrivals from Jersey’s most important origin port of Gatwick
  • Routes seeing high volume growth include Liverpool, London Luton, East Midlands, St Malo and sea arrivals from Guernsey
  • Routes enduring a decline in passenger arrivals include Guernsey (air), Manchester and London City
