Pamela Lee sails into Jersey with DFDS partnership

Publish date: 01 Sep 2025

Irish solo sailor Pamela Lee will sail into Jersey this week [5 September] aboard her EmpowHer Class 40, marking the start of a new partnership with DFDS as she trains for the prestigious Route du Rhum race in 2026.

Pamela has been breaking records and barriers in the male dominated sport with a clear vision for empowering women through sailing. Over the next two years, Pamela’s journey will take her across Europe, including key races around Jersey and France, highlighting the maritime connections that unite us.

Her arrival on island will kick off a series of community events, giving islanders the chance to meet Pamela, learn about her journey, and take part in activities designed to inspire the next generation of sailors.

Local Events in Jersey:

  • Friday 5 September – Pamela will arrive in Jersey on Friday, September 5, aboard her Class40 yacht, EmpowHer, following an exhilarating high-speed race from St. Malo against our Tarifa Jet, media and public welcome.
  • 6 September – Community Drop-In Event: Meet Pamela, explore DFDS services, including the 2026 sailing schedule and take part in competitions. Book your place here.
  • 7 September – Sea Cadets Training & VIP Sailing: Hands-on seamanship and sailing skills for local cadets, led by Pamela.

Chris Parker, Route Director, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Pamela to Jersey and bring her incredible story to our community. Her journey reflects the spirit of adventure, empowerment, and sustainability that we share at DFDS. With the competition to St Malo, we’re also giving islanders the chance to experience the excitement of offshore racing first-hand.”
