The Very Hungry Caterpillar™ comes to Jersey Zoo

Publish date: 17 Jun 2025

Hosted from 14 June until 31 August, the family friendly trail will enable visitors to follow the iconic caterpillar, as he munches his way through the natural world. Visitors will get to crawl, climb and capture their way through life-sized depictions of this world-renowned book.

As well as large 2-metre-high pop ups, the trail will also feature accompanying QR and augmented reality codes, as well as activities and games to help children with their days of the week, counting and understanding the life cycle of a butterfly.

Commenting on the trail, Ian Osborne, Director of Commercial at Jersey Zoo commented: “We are really excited to be bringing another trail to Jersey this summer. The Very Hungry Caterpillar™ is such a well-loved book, and this amazing trail is an excellent way for us to connect our visitors to nature in a fun and playful way. We are looking forward to seeing this beautiful tale come to life across the zoo.”

Thomas Merrington, Creative Director at Penguin Ventures, said: “As one of the UK’s most loved children’s books, we are always delighted to bring Eric’s Carles World to life for fans across the British Isles. We are thrilled that The Very Hungry Caterpillar™ will be landing in Jersey Zoo this summer as part of fantastic interactive trail.”

Bakehouse’s Managing Director, Kate Statham added: “We are absolutely thrilled to be working with the fabulous team at Jersey Zoo to bring The Very Hungry Caterpillar™ trail this summer. The zoo grounds are absolutely stunning, and the provide perfect backdrop to Eric Carls iconic artwork. We hope our interactive trail brings joys to many families this summer.”
