The last couple of weeks has seen a busy time for our trade team as we seek to boost sales of Jersey through travel companies.
Visit Jersey, supported by Hills Balfour, The Seymour Group, Hotel de France and The Mayfair represented Jersey at Explore GB, the UK's biggest trade networking event in Harrogate between 08 - 10 May.
Tourism and destination suppliers met 200 trade buyers from 30 different counties. Over the two days, the Jersey team had 120 pre-scheduled 1-2-1 appointments including a special photo opportunity with the "Queen". Most were European buyers but some buyers were from as far afield as Canada, the US, Australia and Japan.
Recognising the ongoing visitor growth opportunity to Jersey from the Irish market, which was +17% in 2018, the Visit Jersey trade team, with the support of Hills Balfour recently hosted two roadshows in Ireland between 26 – 27 April. The first in Belfast and second in Dublin.
Joining us were on island hotels partners from The Ommaroo, The Royal Yacht, Mayfair, Handpicked Hotels and The Morvan Hotel Group. The round robin style workshop gave each partner the opportunity to update travel industry partners on their hotel offering, whilst Visit Jersey presented the destination, attractions and future product plans. In total there were over 70 Travel partners who attended the events. Not only did the agents have a fun and informative night, they left having one won a range of Jersey prizes provided by the hotels, they also took away a selection of Tour Operator offers to promote.
Following the event a number of travel articles were written and The Northern Irish Travel news will be featuring Jersey in their June edition of the paper, which has a distribution of over 23,000 copies across Travel Agencies, Tourist Information centre and selected newsagents across the country.
