Ports of Jersey have released the July 2019 passenger arrival data. Total air passenger arrivals (that’s arriving visitors and returning residents) increased by 1.1% compared with a year before.
Routes seeing the strongest growth in absolute terms were Guernsey (potentially a function of competition leading to lower fares), Manchester (potentially a result of the new easyJet service) and London Southend. Routes seeing the steepest decline in absolute terms were Liverpool, Birmingham and Glasgow.
Total sea passenger arrivals increased at an annual rate of 2.4% but this was a result of the disruption to Manche Iles services last summer not being repeated this year.
So far in 2019 the number of air passenger arrivals is 3.7% up on 2018 whereas the number of sea passenger arrivals 10.4% lower than for the equivalent period of last year.
Overall passenger arrivals are down 0.4%. So far in 2019 74% of all arrivals have been by air, this is higher than the 71% figure for the first seven months of 2018.
