Jersey Pearl launches first self-service pearl unit at World Duty Free

Publish date: 05 Nov 2024

Customers will be able to select ready-wrapped and beautifully boxed Jersey Pearl jewellery from the contemporary product display stand, which is supported with impactful product displays, imagery, and the Jersey Pearl brand video. They can then pay for it alongside other purchases without needing to wait for a staff member, making it the perfect “on the go” purchase, as a gift for a loved one, or a holiday indulgence.

It’s a fantastic new shopping experience for airport travellers who want their purchase to be quick and easy, yet still offering Jersey Pearl’s exceptional quality and product presentation.

There will be over 36 pieces of jewellery to pick up and go. This includes well-loved classics to stylish favourites. Customers can also be safe in the knowledge their pearls are ethically sourced, carbon neutral, and the packaging is plastic free.

Mike Taylor, Managing Director at Jersey Pearl said: “This is a really exciting time for Jersey Pearl; we’ve had a busy successful summer, are about to start the final stages of our Pearl Café’s huge renovation and have lots of activities and new launches planned for 2025. Plus, we have just launched this new retail unit in the World Duty Free store at the airport, that will redefine the way people shop for pearl jewellery when travelling. We love delighting people with new ideas and experiences, which is why we jumped at the chance to create the first ever ‘choose your own jewellery’ system in the luxury travel retail market. We can’t wait to roll it out to even more airports!”

Kelly Leslie-Jones, Commercial Category Manager at Avolta in the UK added, “We’re proud here at World Duty Free to have introduced a localbrand to our customers that not only brings beautiful gifts and memorable keepsakes to those travelling through the airport and visiting the isle of Jersey, but also actively supports local businesses. This brand embodies a sense of place, a central pillar of our strategy, and enhances the distinct identity we strive to deliver for each of our airport locations. Through this initiative, we are able to connect travellers to the unique spirit of Jersey, fostering a deeper connection to the island, while contributing to the local economy.”

Family-owned business Jersey Pearl has been a landmark destination in Jersey since 1985, welcoming generations of locals and island visitors to its iconic St. Ouen showroom (with café, pick-a-pearl, and sea views), King Street, and Gorey shops.
