The Jersey Financial Services Commission is fielding volunteers from all areas of the organisation to assist the small team at the National Trust for Jersey to paint, clean and tidy the former Seaside Café and surrounding areas at Grève de Lecq. The site was recently acquired by the Government for the people of Jersey and subsequently gifted to the Trust.
JFSC’s Executive Director of Supervision said, “We are really pleased the JFSC team has been able to support the National Trust’s efforts to bring the café at Grève de Lecq back to life. Our people are often out and about supporting local causes, reflecting our commitment to Jersey’s communities and our part in island life. Today our colleagues cleaned and painted the café so it can support summer activities. We wish the National Trust and all the users of the café over the summer a lot of fun in the newly refurbished property!”.
The Trust opened the car park at Easter which had been closed for two years and now aims to stage regular musical events and other community activities at the former café. An evening with Les Conteurs Singers is taking place on Wednesday 26th June, regular yoga, and an exhibition of the history and heritage of the Bay with islander John Syvret on 29th and 30th June. The intention is to make the area really vibrant over the summer season with pop up food stalls and entertainment.
Donna Le Marrec, Marketing and Events Manager at the Trust said “We are really grateful that the team from the JFSC are taking the time to work with us, without this support and assistance we would really struggle to clean up the site ready for the summer’.
