Jersey is proud to partner with SLT, and we look forward to sharing our island with the rest of the world.
RBC Super League Triathlon returned to Jersey’s waterfront in September 2018 welcoming 55 of the world’s best athletes to the island and over 10,000 unique spectators. Shining a light on Jersey’s sporting event capabilities, research recorded a growth of over 20% year-on-year of the number of unique spectators at RBC Super League Triathlon Jersey.
As a catalyst for the island’s tourism development, findings indicated that over 2,100 visitors attended the event, generating an additional visitor spend of £397,000. This compares to £185,000 in 2017. These visitors generated 3,800 additional visitor nights in Jersey, compared to 1,700 last year. 47% of visiting spectators said they came specifically for the event and a further 2% noting it was an important factor in their decision to visit.
These figures exclude athletes, officials and visiting media, which suggest a further benefit to the visitor economy of £130,032. The combined addition to the visitor economy spend was £527,000. For an overview of the 2018 event, read the press release here.
